Making insulin is just too mainstream for my pancreas. What a hipster.

DexcomG4 Platinum CGM.
It feels so incredible to finally have this Dexcom device be mine; hooked up to me, and sending readings that are from my body, mine. I haven’t forgotten about it once since I got my hands on it after school. I already love it!(:

So, maybe today was rough. Maybe the last few have been. Heck, maybe it’s been rough since Doc set you down and said “look buddy, your pancreas is outta commission.”
And maybe you hate insulin, I get it, it’s a total bummer. But it gets better, I promise.
I’ve been there. Kids point and stare…
DexcomG4 CGM.
In a few short days this lovely device will be mine(:
It’s a Continuous Glucose Monitor. There is a sensor that stays under my skin (middle picture) which is able to check my bloodsugar every 5 minutes, transmit it to the transmitter (grey piece of the device) and then send the reading to a receiver (top picture) and display a trend graph.
I’m on my way to getting an insulin pump; this is going to help me(:

Anonymous asked: What device do you use for insulin?
I currently use a Novolog FlexPen!
I have [a] new found idea(s) with exploration and adventure, and I find them very fascinating and intriguing…
I wanna talk to someone whom I’ve never met before and I wanna learn about their life. I wanna know about their struggles, the times that they thought were the best of their lives; I wanna hear it all.
People are intriguing to me.
I want to get in my car with a cooler full of water bottles, soda, and Arizona tea, a bag full of snack food, and money for gas, pick a direction, and go as far as I can in that direction until I discover a small town or a big city that I want to explore. Then I wanna get a hotel room and stay there for a few days…
Maybe I’ll bring a friend or a lover, maybe I’ll bring a pet or go alone.
I want to spend a day or two at a hospital and sit with patients and show them that a complete and utter stranger cares enough to take the time to come and listen to anything they may have to say, and show that they have a friend in someone who doesn’t know them.
I want to befriend someone who is ill and may not have anyone.
It’s things like these that I want to do in the next few years.
It’s things like these that I have inside my mind… The ideas of things to do in life; expand views and just do things that make me feel stellar, that make me feel like I’m doing great things with my life, and possibly change something in someone or help them, maybe even learn something new myself.
